JOB GOAL

 

To provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

 

  1.  Obey all traffic laws
  2. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
  3. Obey all regulations under F.C.C. for radio operation
  4. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus
  5.  Report undisciplined students to the proper authority
  6. Adhere to assigned schedule
  7. Check bus before operation for mechanical defects in accordance with state regulations
  8. Notifies the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure or lateness
  9. Discharge students only at authorized stops
  10. Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
  11. Transports only authorized students
  12. Report all accidents and complete required reports in a clear and legible manner
  13. Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as may be assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Must possess a current Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsement in accordance with A.R.S. 28-3101 and 28-3103.
  3. Current Arizona bus driver's certification (or ability to obtain)
  4. Must have a driving record that is acceptable by the AZ Department of Public Safety.
  5. Demonstrates physical stamina and health.
  6. Valid AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)
  7. Ability to take direction, work independently and complete assigned tasks.
  8. Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, parents, community and staff.
  9. Evidence of ability to effectively use technology to perform duties.
  10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Must  be able to pass a physical performance test as required and outlined in the Minimum Standards for School Buses and School Bus Drivers. 

 

  1. Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and drag 125 pounds a minimum of 30 feet.
  2. Individual must have the physical stamina, health, and flexibility necessary to bend, stretch, crouch, kneel, stoop, lift, pull, push, and climb. 
  3. Repetitive functions are common and necessary to perform the responsibilities of a school bus driver
  4. Extended periods of standing.
  5. Ability to drive to school and out of district sites.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to perform duties in Arizona environment without the benefit of Air Conditioning.  The environment experiences temperature extremes of over 100 degrees (F) and down to possible freezing temperatures.  There is possible exposure to bodily fluids and hazardous fluids/materials.   

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  
6 hours per day, Monday-Friday
Non-Exempt, 10 Month Employee

SALARY:

 

Support Staff Pay Level 16:  $14.63 - $16.54 per hour
